In The Secret Of Monkey Island, you take on the role of young Guybrush Threepwood, who wants to become mighty pirate, and strike it rich. You have found your way to Mêlée Island, and will seek out the local pirate leaders in order to full-fill your destiny of becoming a world-renowned swashbuckler. The pirates will send you off to pass the three trials. You will need to become a master of the sword (which somehow is more about mastering insults, than actual sword fighting), you must prove yourself as a thief, and you must find a hidden treasure.
Along the way, you encounter several interesting characters, the most notable of whom is Elaine, the current governor of the island. You immediately fall for her charms, but as you also learn from encountering other inhabitants, another one of Elaine's suitors is the late evil pirate LeChuck, who made Monkey Island his home.
When you have finished the trials, you just about see LeChucks' ship sail off into the distance, and the lookout informs you that he has kidnapped Elaine. You will have to figure out a way to get your hands on a ship and a crew, so you can rescue her from LeChuck. Once you gathered a trustworthy crew and a ship, you then make your way to Monkey Island, where with the help of a castaway, a small handful of monkeys, and a local tribe of cannibals, you find the means to defeat LeChuck.
Please note the purchase link is to the Special Edition; a updated version of the game from 2019. The original EGA and VGA versions can be found as updates of this resource.
An on-line copy of the Dial A Pirate code wheel can be found here: https://www.oldgames.sk/codewheel/secret-of-monkey-island-dial-a-pirate. Alternatively, you can run the runme.exe file from the zipfile, which will allow any input to be interpreted as if you properly found the correct year.
The Scumm Engine used by LucasArts for their adventures (like Maniac Mansion, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Loom, and Zac McCracken and the Alien Mindbenders) was altered to allow for a default action on specific objects (Like right-clicking a door will typically lead to the door being opened, and right-clicking a person will engage that person in a conversation). Further enhancements include the removal of the "What is" option, and simply displaying information when you hover your mouse over an object.

[W] Walk to
[S] Push (Move things clockwise)
[E] Close
[F] Turn Off
[T] Talk to

[L] Look At
[P] Pick up
Quit game: CTRL+C (Ega version) or CTRL + Q (VGA version)
F5 to save/load games.
For dialogue options, you can also use numbers 1-6 to pick the line with that number.
