Adventure Space Quest VI: Roger Wilco in the Spinal Frontier 1

Following his adventure in Space Quest V: The Next Mutation, Roger is court martialed and stripped of his command. Instead, he is demoted straight back to janitor (second class), and is put to work on SCS DeepShip 86. When the crew is allowed to take some R&R, Roger finds himself on the planet Polysorbate LX.

After beating an alien in a game that's a mix between the 3 stooges and Street Fighter, Roger makes his way back to the space ship, and then is ordered to go take care of a premium passenger. Unbeknown to Roger, this passenger has it out for Roger, but he is rescued by Stellar Santiago, who seemingly dies in the attempt.

After burying her, though, Roger receives a video message from Stellar, and sets out to find and rescue her.


As usual, the game is full of references to science fiction movies. Among others, Roger encounters someone suspiciously resembling the Blade Runner, a lady called Wriggley, who ends up with an alien hitching a ride on board her ship, and he travels inside Stellar Santiago's body, not unlike the movie Fantastic Voyage.

Personally, the game seemed both short (storyline-wise), but also unnecessarily long. There are numerous small animation cut-scenes that cannot be skipped. Roger teleporting within the starship has him getting sucked through a pipe every time he does so. The first few times, that might seem hilarious, but having to see the animation time and time again sort of puts a damper on things for me. Likewise, other animation sequences also seem unnecessarily length.
