You return as King Graham, who became the king of Daventry in King's Quest 1. Under your rule, the kingdom prospered. However, you remain single, and desperately would like a queen to sit at your side. The magic mirror shows you an image of a beautiful woman trapped in a tower in the magical land of Kolyma. You decide you want to figure out a way to head there and rescue her.
You start off at the beach, and will have to find your way to Kolyma. Along the way you will meet different characters like Little Red Riding Hood, the evil witch Hagatha, a flying horse and even Dracula. Dying is easy, so be sure to save often. You can also end up accidentally running into Agatha or a particularly nasty dwarf in several of the screens. If they bump into you, you will die (in the case of Agatha), or lose some of your things that you will then have to go recover from the dwarf's house.
The game uses the same AGI engine as King's Quest 1, and other Sierra adventures such as Space Quest 1, Space Quest 2 and Police Quest 1.
Note that the GOG purchase link will get you King's Quest 1, 2 and 3 ((at $9.99 when not discounted). There's two more bundles, one with 4, 5, and 6 at the same price, and finally one with 7 and 8 at the same price)., The Steam link will get you King's Quest 1-7 for $19.99. I linked the Steam version, because that seems to be the better deal.
